There are so many web design bloggers giving us so many tips and guides on Search Engine Optimization. Naturally, most of what they write is repetitive, a sort of old wine in new bottles. In this article we will take a look at some SEO techniques that have been by and large missed by experts in the field. They are simple, effective and have surprisingly been overlooked by web designers and writers the world over. It will take you less than a day to get them done, if you haven’t already incorporated them in your website optimization. So check out your website and these tactics, and after reading this article incorporate them in your web design.
Optimize your logo
Optimize your logo for the targeted key phrase on your home page. For instance, if you are selling men’s wigs in New Hampshire, it should be “nh-wigs-men.jpg.” Use dashes, not underscores, in your key phrase and don’t forget to add your alt tag too. This is a very effective way to get traffic but is being missed out by a large number of site owners and SEO firms.
Write more than 2000 words
It was Neil Patel who wrote about the advantage of having longer text on web pages. Patel observed that web pages that contained 2,000 words or more than that, ranked very higher on Google page . Of course, your long content must be useful. It must provide vital information to your readers, it must have a strategy and be simple and clear. Also, since your content is long it doesn’t mean you have to insert a lot of keywords. Two to three will do. A study by moz.com found that it was best to use targeted key words 2 to 3 times.
Image link optimization
Use images in your link building. Usually websites link their targeted keywords to the web page they are optimizing. But go further than that. When you use images when building links, optimize the images. Since you cannot control a website that you don’t own, this process can be problematic. You may need to swallow your pride and ego and do some begging; however, it’s worth doing that. Image optimization is like logo optimization: Give a name to the file using your targeted key phrase, without using underscores. Then add an alt tag using your targeted keyword and then link to your targeted web page.
Link to highly respected sites
Back links are valuable only if they are linked to authoritative and respected web pages. Google will see your page in a better light if you link to an appropriate website which the search engine feels has a terrific standing, besides terrific information. Google will assume that you have done great research and are sharing the same with your visitors.
Underline your keywords or make them bold or italicized
This is elementary, but you’ll be surprised how many people fail to do it. You have to make clear to Google what you wish to highlight to your users. Therefore, if you italicize or make words bold or underline them, they will stand out for Google and your users to see clearly. Emphasizing words/phrases paints a clearer picture of your page; it explains what that page is all about.
